OB & Historians TURNED OUT & OPPOSED City Council Item 332, PKG. A- Tue., Feb. 24

At S.D. Council City Council: A large group of O.B. residents and historians turned out to oppose the City Council, Preservation and Progress Package A (proposal to accelerate building) opposing O.B. Emerging Cottage Historic District. District 2 Council Jen Cambel once again ignored her district and voted for the developers! The votes were 5 Yeas, 1 Nay Joe LaCava), 3 Absent (didn’t bother coming to work).
A large majority of Ocean Beach residents say “NO” to proposed changes to development standards that target Ocean Beach in particular and weaken historical preservation. The staff report states that “the proposed amendment clearly provides that Complete Communities Housing Solutions can be utilized on properties within the boundaries of the Ocean Beach Cottage Emerging Historical District … if the property is not a contributing resource to the district.” Complete Communities allows builders to circumvent long-standing guardrails such as preserving community heritage, buildings over the 30-foot height limit law, and preventing rampant overgrowth. More information at: obrag.org
