OB Craft Fair 2018 at Veteran’s Plaza lawn

The OCEAN BEACH CRAFT FAIR at Veteran’s Plaza lawn at Newport Ave. (next to Lifeguard Station)

Sponsored by: the OB Council and organized by the OB Mainstreet Association.  Purpose of the Craft Fairs is to raise awareness and funding for the annual “Food & Toy Drive” sponsored and supported by the Masons, the Veterans, the Kiwanis and the Elks as well as the OB Town Council.

To accomplish this yearly OB Crafts Fair the Town Council applies for a permit to use the Veteran’s Plaza lawn at the foot of Newport adjacent to the Lifeguard Station. The OB Craft Fair is for local artists and vendors who can display and sell their materials for 12 Saturdays (Aug-Dec) in beautiful Ocean Beach. The Craft Fairs also overlap and elicit interest in other beach activities-Small Business Saturday, Surf Contest, etc.  Audience is intended to be for locals as well as visitors.
Local crafts people and artisans are invited to rent a booth and display their crafts from 9 am to 4 pm.  Crafts include: glassware, ceramics, clothing & fabrics, jewelry, art & photography, snacks and various gifts.
OB Mainstreet Association maintain the event for the Town Council.  OBMA has their own booth and at the entry to the Fair that they share with the OB Historical Society. The OBHS table has a display featuring items for sale that include our publications, magnets, and aerial maps.  Books include: “Ocean Beach”, “Point Loma”, and  “Lighthouse”. In addition, OBHS have issues of Sea Scrolls, Beacon, and other no-cost information regarding OBHS and our activities.
Visit this low-key event each year at the beach. See what is going, and enjoy the opportunity to shop for local arts & crafts, and to contribute to the local Food & Toy Drive initiative to feed and give Christmas presents to many of the low-income families in Ocean Beach. Please come by the OB Craft Fair and tell all your friends about this opportunity to visit the Ocean Beach community.
